What You Get
The Great Weight Loss Challenge will create an interactive/social atmosphere where individuals with similar goals, can work together to achieve them. The Great Weight Loss Challenge will market those who feel they need help and motivation in losing fat percentage. Lauren Saunders and Mathew Reid will help them achieve this goal in the following ways.
#1 Participants have the opportunity to meet up for 3 weekly practices. Each practice can be tweaked to meet the fitness level of every individual. All three workouts are slightly different, to keep the interest of participants.
#2 Participants will be given a personalized training plan/schedule custom made to fit around family, work, goals, etc. The coach and athlete will sit down together to design this schedule. Since schedule design is done together, the athlete will commit to a plan they feel is reasonable, and the coach will work that in. Participants are more motivated to exercise when it is written down, and they are told exactly what to do. The personalized training plan is also useful for those individuals who cannot attend practices, as they will still have a clear plan of what to do.
#3 Participants will have the opportunity to use the state-of-the art accountability software. Currently, this software has the ability to track athletes training, motivation, diet, sleep quality, overall feeling, etc. This software will continue to expand throughout the years. This software provides the participants with an easy, hands on way to track what they are doing. It also allows the coach to monitor each athlete, and provide appropriate feedback.
#4 Participants will be given weekly emails. Based on the stats developed from the accountability software, emails will show the training each person has done. The email will also contain one line about something positive each participant has done. For example; "Mark lost 10 pounds, Barb ran 10km, etc). Weekly emails will also contain diet/exercise tips, motivational quotes, and current weight loss updates.
#5 Participants will have weekly weigh-ins every Saturday. The Great Weight Loss Challenge provides a friendly competition between participants. With a weekly weigh-in, participants will be able to monitor their weight loss and ensure they are staying on track. It will also provide increased motivation to exercise and eat healthy, if they know they are going too be weighed every week.
#6 Participants will have access to a qualified and knowledgeable coach. Participants are able to phone/email coaches as much as they want. Coaches will help participants lose weight by constantly monitoring their accountability, and offering advice.
#7 Participant will be required to fill out a weekly food log, which helps coaches track their daily diets. Coaches will offer feedback/advice based on this log. Participants will also get the opportunity to go on a weekly grocery shopping trip, where coaches will help analyze food choices and offer shopping advice.
Realistic Expectations
#1 We strongly believe that losing 1-2 pound per week during the Challenge is the safest and best way to maintain a healthy weight loss. Coaches will only set goals of losing a max of 20 pounds over a 2 month period. Losing weight faster is of course possible, but the effects of losing the weight faster will result in the participant gaining the weight back after the Challenge is complete. We at The Great Weight Loss Challenge focus on realistic lifestyle changes that will last you decades of better health.
#2 Be prepared to change your diet. Fruits and vegetables are worth their weight in gold, and we will expect you to eat more of them while decreasing simple carb intake. With the food log and our shopping trips we can ensure that you are buying the right stuff.
#3 Practices are as hard as you make them out to be. We as coaches are there for you and will push you, but only to the point you are willing to be pushed. Better attendance and effort level will help burn more calories, but we realize that you have a busy life and family. Your personalized training plan will guide you through your busy life schedule.
